Counseling for High-Achieving Women with Anxiety and Perfectionism

Empowering women to build healthy relationships with themselves and live fully in their truth.

Sure, You Can Do It All, But at What Cost…

As a high achiever, you are the resilient, and responsible one everyone turns to.

But, It seems like the more you give, the more they take.

The internal whispers that call you an imposter and the constant need to plan for “what if” scenarios, often leave you worn out and mentally drained.

No matter what you do, or who you do it for, it seems like it’s never enough.

Maybe you’ve even noticed…the constant pursuit to truly be seen and validated by those closest to you, is becoming a never-ending cycle.

But, the thought of not being everyone’s fixer or looking like everything is great, leaves you feeling like a failure or inadequate.

Past Wounds Create Present Challenges.

When we feel unseen, unheard, or judged by caregivers or the world around us, we naturally develop ways to adapt and function in these challenging environments.

Maybe you were the responsible one, the one who had to plan for the worst-case scenario because growing up you were tasked with taking care of siblings or caregivers. Perhaps you excelled in school or sports, no matter the cost to you, because it was when you received the most praise and felt seen.

However, when these behaviors show up in adulthood, it adds bricks to your backpack. Over time, your backpack gets heavier, leaving you feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and hopeless. You might start walking differently, neglecting self or finding new ways to manage the load isolating yourself from others.

Just as carrying a heavy backpack daily can strain your body, these emotional shortcuts can take a toll on your mental health, leaving you feeling burnt out.

Ready To Release Everything That Is Weighing You Down?

Imagine a space specifically for you, one that allows you to let go and release all that’s weighing you down. A supportive space where you can find relief and reclaim your life. Here, you can share your truth and feelings, free of judgment. A space that puts you and your needs first. A space that accepts all parts of you, not just the achiever, but the little girl within waiting to be heard.

You no longer have to imagine, this space is waiting for you today.

Not being able to do it all for everyone does not mean you’re a failure… It just means you’re human.

Healing the Hidden Wounds of Women in Helping Professions

Supporting Women who Support Others.

You carry an invisible weight as a helping professional.

You show up strong because you have to—balancing high-stress environments, micro-aggressions, implicit bias, traumatic experiences, and the unspoken expectation to maintain an unbreakable facade.

But behind the mask, you may feel isolated, and trapped by the very responsibilities you take pride in. When exhaustion sets in and frustration surfaces, you are often met with dismissive responses like, “This is what you signed up for.” But compassion fatigue, trauma, and burnout were never part of the job description.

Even seeking help feels risky—”what if it threatens my career, reputation, or the perception that I can handle it all”?

But Remember, You Are Human Too.

You deserve a space to heal and grow. My goal is to provide you with that space, creating the tools you need to find balance and thrive both personally and professionally. I recognize the courage it takes to ask for help and the strength required to confront what’s happening internally.

Reclaim Your Calm. Rewrite Your Story. Restore Your Self-Trust.

You’ve tried self help strategies and yet the past continues to resurface in the present.

Difficulty trusting others

Second-guessing your decisions

Being weighed down by shame and guilt

Taking on the role of the “fixer” or responsible one

Struggling to celebrate your achievements or take care of yourself

EMDR THERAPY CAN HELP.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or bilateral tapping, to help the brain reprocess stuck beliefs that don’t align with who you truly are.

Beliefs like:

  • “I have to be perfect to be safe.”

  • “If I slow down, I’ll fall apart.”

  • “My needs don’t matter.”

It’s not about reliving the pain. It’s about releasing it—so your body no longer has to carry the story alone.

EMDR Goes Beyond Talk Therapy.

Beliefs like:

  • “I have to be perfect to be safe.”

  • “If I slow down, I’ll fall apart.”

  • “My needs don’t matter.”

It’s not about reliving the pain. It’s about releasing it—so your body no longer has to carry the story alone.

Lasting Results

Holistic Healing

Distressing events impact both your mind and body. EMDR addresses both, promoting healing from the inside out.

Empowerment

By resolving past traumas or distressing experiences, EMDR helps you regain control over your life and emotions, leading to an increase in self-confidence and your well-being.

Understanding Trauma

Trauma isn’t just about what happened to us; it’s also about what didn’t happen. When we go through traumatic or distressing experiences, we often form negative beliefs about ourselves based on those events. For example, “I am responsible” or “I am not enough” can begin to form. Regardless of when the distressing situation occurred, we hold onto these negative beliefs, sometimes without even realizing it.

If you are a high achiever, try taking a break and notice the critical thoughts that surface. Maybe you call yourself lazy or inadequate just because you want to rest. These negative beliefs drive our behaviors and shape how we interact with ourselves and the world around us.

EMDR therapy helps to address these deep-seated beliefs, promoting healing and empowering you to live a more balanced and fulfilling life.

How EMDR Therapy Works?

Processing Distressing Experiences: Think of your brain as a sorting system for your experiences. Traumatic events can cause these memories to become disorganized, leading to emotional and physical pain when triggered. EMDR helps your brain reprocess these memories, reducing their impact.

Common Triggers Include:

Heart racing

Feeling on edge or on guard

Feeling unsafe or as if your having an out of body experience

Negative beliefs about yourself, such as feeling inadequate, not good enough, responsible for everything, or undeserving of love

What to Expect in an EMDR Session.

Initial Assessment

Your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment to understand your history and the issues you want to address. This helps in formulating a personalized treatment plan.

Bilateral Stimulation

During EMDR sessions, you will focus on a specific distressing memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds. This process helps in reprocessing the memory and reducing its emotional charge.

Follow-up and Integration

Post-session, your therapist will help you integrate the new insights and emotional relief into your daily life, ensuring long-lasting benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions.

How will I know if EMDR is right for me?

Your Therapist will explain the therapeutic process of EMDR in detail. If you or your therapist have any reservations to utilizing this treatment modality, it will not be administered.

Is EMDR like hypnosis?

No. During EMDR processing, you are present, awake and fully in control of the process.

Will I be required to tell the clinician all the details of my trauma in order for EMDR to work?

One of the amazing benefits that separates EMDR from talk therapy, is that it does not require you to tell every detail about what happened to you.

I already have a therapist and don't want to change, can I still complete EMDR therapy from you?

Yes. It takes time and energy to find the “right” therapist so it makes sense since you wouldn’t want to do anything to jeopardize that therapeutic relationship. You can participate in EMDR with us while also having a separate therapist. Some of our clients are referred by their primary therapist and after the completion of EMDR therapy, return to resume their therapy.

Can I get rid of my problems quickly with EMDR therapy?

For some clients, the amount of time spent completing EMDR therapy takes less time than traditional talk therapy. However, the length of treatment is dependent upon several factors and is different for each individual. Some clients have noticed relief after their first session.
